First Decorating Inspiration: House Beautiful March 2010

While I have always been interested in home decor, I think I really got serious about it when my now husband and I moved into our first apartment together.  A spacious (well, NYC standards spacious) one bedroom, with only the furniture that I brought from my studio apartment.  White walls that echoed.  About a month later, I picked up the March 2010 issue of House Beautiful magazine, their spring color issue entitled "all about blue."  The house featured on the cover, and in one of the house tours, struck a cord with me.  I wanted my apartment to look just like this home!

Fall Shopping - ZARA

I recently popped into ZARA, and stumbled upon my first fall shopping spree.  I love the sophistication of these basic tops - and I see myself wearing both all the time.  And the pants! I can never find a nice pair of skinny black pants to fit me.  I don't know how many times I've tried on the Minnie pant at J.Crew thinking they would somehow suddenly fit me, with no luck.  I purchased this pair of faux-leather pants and these amazing super luxe legging-pants with cute gold zipper detailing. I may need to go back for more :)

Adults need to go back-to-school shopping too, right?

My kitchen/sunroom/dining nook is in desperate need of window treatments! A few challenges though . . .

Sunday Night Thoughts . . . Dreaming of Headboards

The first full week at the new place!  Only 5 more boxes (of the 60 total) to unpack.

We are getting our new headboard delivered on Tuesday - so excited! It is the Alison Headboard from Ethan Allen.  An upholstered beauty that will bring a great presence to my bedroom, in a custom fabric (pics to come this week).

Got paint swatches and bought 2 samples to test on the walls this week (see above).  I plan to paint an accent wall in the living room a sea glass blue, and another grey accent wall in the bathroom.

Mad Men Season 6 starts tonight!  Love the fashion, the sets, the complex characters.  Might start a Mad Men Costume Regular Sunday night post series.  That should cure the Sunday Night Blues (aka the inevitable sadness on Sunday evening that the weekend has come to an end).

I'm going to try to blog more than just on the weekends.  Let's see how that goes this week.  Have a great one!
